Support the Building Transformations
Regulation Size Soccer Field and Community Playground
With limited recreation space in the North Charleston area, we desire to create a safe and fun space where children, youth, adults and families can come to spend time outdoors together. Statistics prove that communities with safe recreational space see a decline in crime rates and increase in overall happiness and satisfaction. This transformation will require grading and leveling the ground, new turf, bleachers, engineering, playground equipment, fencing and overall landscaping work.
Estimated cost:
$200,000
Non-profit Community Café
Nothing says community and collaboration quite like a cozy café. Remount Road is lacking safe and comfortable spaces to meet with friends, coworkers, get a great cup of coffee and a delicious snack. This community café will be open to the public during normal business hours and provide a valuable resource to our community as a place to gather and meet. In addition, this café will be a training ground for youth and young adults in business practices and entrepreneurship. All income from this café will be returned to the community through our members at The HUB Network. This transformation will require a complete overhaul to the existing building, structural engineering work, new men’s and women’s bathrooms, electrical, flooring, new walls, new HVAC system, new windows, doors and new furnishings.
Estimated cost:
$450,000
Afterschool, Youth and Multi-purpose Space
With many single parent and working households in our community there is a great need for safe, educational and enriching afterschool programs. Centerpoint Learning Center desires to expand its afterschool program but more usable space is needed. Space is available but is in desperate need of a renovation in order to accommodate this program and be used for other community programs and events. This transformation will require an upfitting of the current building which includes new flooring, new windows, new doors, new furnishings and a new HVAC system. For safety, it will also require completely closing in the existing breezeway.
Estimated cost:
$400,000
